Higher ground is looking for our A team Facilitators, logistics and community support roles for our 2027 residential programs working with International students from Hong Kong.
Based in Kenilworth on Sunshine Coast, QLD for a Seasonal Full-Time capacity (May through till mid August).

For over 29 years, Higher Ground has been delivering transformative experiential learning programs for both international and local students across South East Queensland.
Our mission is to help young people discover who they are, how they connect, and what they’re capable of—through challenge, reflection, and community. We believe the outdoors is a powerful catalyst for personal growth, and we design experiences that foster resilience, self-awareness, and leadership.

The Role
We’re seeking passionate facilitators to lead residential and expedition-based programs ranging from two to six weeks.
As a facilitator, you’ll co-create immersive experiences that leave a lasting impact. You’ll work closely with students in natural settings, guiding them through meaningful challenges and reflective practices that promote growth and connection.
Who We’re Looking For
We don’t hire outdoor educators just to run activities—we’re looking for facilitators who use the outdoors as a canvas for youth development through meaningful facilitation.
We’re looking for people who:
- Bring energy, humility, and curiosity to their work
- Are strong role models who inspire and connect authentically
- Have a deep appreciation for the outdoors and its ability to change lives
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience facilitating groups (e.g. youth work, teaching, mentoring, coaching, outdoor ed)
- Current Driver’s License
- QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent
- Remote or Wilderness First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

The Programs
Limitless
- 6 week program inc 10-day expedition
- Training: 4 days (6th - 9th May)
- Program: 42 days (10th - 21st June)
- Year 9 International Students from Hong Kong
Rites of Passage
- 4 week program inc 6-day expedition
- Training: 3 days (6th - 9th July)
- Program: 28 days (10th July - 10th August)
- Year 9 Students from Hong Kong
The Details
- Location: Based in Kenilworth, Sunshine Coast, with fieldwork across SE QLD
- Salary: Paid hourly ranging from $33.85 - $41.16, including applicable penalty rates (average day rate: $490+)
- Food and accommodation provided at no charge for the duration of program dates
