In a Full Time role you will be a part of our core Facilitator team with each week looking slightly different!
One week may be a Centre based program at our base of Kenilworth Homestead with Yr 6 – Yr 11. Ranging from 3 – 5 days facilitating activities such as High Ropes, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, Initiatives, Archery, Raft building and more.
The following week may be an Expedition utilising our 2 Main Operating areas of Conondale National Park and Cooloola National Park with Yr 8 – Yr 11. Facilitating more journey based focus through Hiking, Canoeing and Mountain Biking ranging from 3 – 10 days.
The next week may be some shed work including repairs, expedition food pack out, logistics prep for upcoming programs and much more. The following week you may be in a logistics role keeping the behind the scenes of a program running smoothly to provide a balance of not being in the field week after week.
Within the year Higher Ground runs a variety of programs in Term 1 + 4 for local schools within Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast areas.
During Term 2 + 3 Higher Ground facilitates programs for students from Hong Kong partaking in Long Term Residential Programs ranging in 4 – 6 weeks in length. These programs are a mix of centre and expedition style with a sequential approach to the program through skills and community living. As a full time staff member you will have the opportunity to be with a group for the length of the program. Being an active role during this journey with the students, observing long term outcomes flourish, positive engagement and incredible growth among the students and you’re professional skill set.
At Higher Ground we acknowledge Outdoor Education work can be hard and demanding at times, for this reason Fulltime staff will have the opportunity to gain up to additional 5-7 weeks of paid leave throughout contract dates to take time to rest or maintain a work life balance.

Qualifications and experience:
- Certificate III or IV in Outdoor Leadership or relevant qualifications and experience recognized
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Outdoor education sector
- Current certifications in Wilderness/Remote First Aid and CPR
- Proficiency in Facilitation, Canoeing, Mountain Biking, Hiking, High Ropes
- QLD Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain
- Current driver’s license (Manual and MR is highly desirable)

Salary: Various fixed term contracts available
- Full time equivalent of $58,000 – $62,000 per annum (pro rata) plus super with an additional 5-7 weeks of paid leave throughout contract dates
